Common sustainability supply chain management developed for & by European tour operators
(28-11-2005)
The Tour-Link project is aimed to demonstrate how an integrated ecolabeling and tour operating supply chain management strategy can foster sustainability in tourism.
Until now, there has hardly been any co-ordinated and strategic co-operation between eco-labels, tour operators, and suppliers. Thanks to the Tour-Link project (2004-2007), a common sustainability supply chain management methodology is to be developed in the European Union.
Partners in the project are leading organisations in the field of environmental management and certification in tourism: ANVR the Dutch association of tour operators, the Federation of Tour Operators in the UK, the Catalan Ministry of Environment, the Austrian Ministry of Environment, the Leeds Metropolitan University (UK), the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (Sweden), SME Environmental communication advisers (NL) and the Royal Awards foundation.
